Movement => Balloons
Art of the Danforth
Toronto, ON
May 2012
A collaboration with dancer and choreographer Cara Spooner, Movement => Balloons was an installation which brought together dance, sculpture, and photography.
Using a Kinect and custom software, the movement of a dancer was converted into a 3D computer model, which then served as the basis for a balloon sculpture. By manifesting a dancer’s movement through its own medium, the sculpture became a static physical representations of the dance.
Movement=>Balloons was shown as part of the exhibit “A Piece of a City” during the Art of the Danforth festival in Toronto, and was curated by Annie Onyi Cheung and John Loerchner & Laura Mendes of Labspace Studio.
